Selama tahun 2016, 23 perusahaan itu akan menggaji Karyawan di bawah UMK Kabupaten Karawang. "Rata-rata sebesar ujarnya. Kalau didasari faktor penurunan, banyak kemungkinannya," ucap banyak pihak menilai tingginya UMK Karawang akan mengurangi investasi, justru Badan Penanaman Modal dan Pelayanan Terpadu BPMPT beranggapan bahwa kabupaten berpenduduk 2,2 juta itu masih memiliki daya tarik yang tinggi bagi para pengusaha untuk berinvestasi. "Karawang sendiri masih memiliki daya tarik dengan penilaian yang lebih dibanding dengan daerah lain untuk mengundang investor," ungkap Sekretaris BPMPT, Wawan Ia mencatat, dalam triwulan ke 3 Tahun 2015 Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal BKPM mencatat nilai investasi mencapai Rp 24,018 triliun. "Ini baru triwulan ke-3, sedangkan di Tahun 2014 kemarin pada triwulan ke-4 kami mencapai Rp 25,73 triliun," kata investasi selama triwulan 3 pada tahun 2015 untuk Penanam Modal Asing PMA mencapai Rp 16,13 triliun sedangkan untuk Penanam Modal Dalam Negeri PMDN mencapai Rp 6,13 triliun.
